Research on the current status of English teaching in non-English major schools

Abstract

English skills, which are considered as essential soft ones, are necessary for graduates’ employability. However, the current situation of Vietnamese graduates’ low English language proficiency levels reveals a huge gap between what is intended ambitiously in Government policies and what is actually being implemented at the institutional, curriculum, and subject levels across education levels, including higher education. This article presents some current situations in teaching and studyding English at schools and non-linguistic universities around Vietnam.
