Evaluating English writing skills of students at Hanoi University

Abstract
Assessing students' English writing skills is both subjective and influenced by the subjective perspective and expectations of the examiner. To clarify this, the article, in addition to mentioning three principles in language testing including validity, reliability and practicality, also points out difficulties and solutions to overcome difficulties in testing and assessing the English writing skills of students at Hanoi University today.
