The impact of "Reading widely" on English reading comprehension skills of students majoring in Elementary Education, Tan Trao University

Abstract

In any languague, reading is a very important skill that helps students to develope their language competency. Students may mainly think that they need to concentrate to conficience reading. However, students read less and less or gradually loose the habit of reading books. The writer conducted ten weeks action research on 40 students who take part in the study, to find out what extent extensive reading contributes improve their reading comprehension. After studying, the result showed that there was some significant improvement in the post-test. It pointed that ‘extensive reading’ can help students improve their reading comprehension skill.
