The educational, work and leisure life of young science and technology professionals in current small and medium enterprises
Abstract
In the context of rapid advancements in science and technology, there is an urgent demand for a highly qualified scientific and technological (S&T) workforce. This need is not only critical for key industries but is also a general requirement across the entire business ecosystem. However, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in particular face numerous challenges in developing a young, skilled S&T workforce. Drawing on data from the research project “Policies and Solutions for the Development of Young Scientific and Technological Human Resources in Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises in Vietnam for the Period 2021–2030” (Project Code: ĐTĐLXH.07/2022), this paper outlines key characteristics of the educational, working, and recreational lives of young S&T personnel in Vietnamese SMEs. Furthermore, it analyzes various factors influencing their development and proposes policy recommendations aimed at effectively supporting this workforce segment.
