Abstract
Nowadays, the economic approach to interpreting ancient rock carving heritage has become popular in modern anthropology worldwide. Ancient people believed that all material resources were governed by gods. Humans used those resources to create economic values by behaving respectfully and ritually towards the deities. That implied meaning is very commonly expressed in the ancient rock carving heritage of Northern Vietnam. Therefore, interpreting rock carving artworks through the lens of ritual economy helps to clarify their meaning and significantly contributes to the preservation and promotion of the great values
of this priceless heritage.
