Abstract
The Nguyen Dynasty bequeathed a rich and diverse tangible heritage, encompassing architectural works, sculptures, enamel art, furniture, and costumes. Among these, the imperial costumes of the Nguyen court stand as a unique and significant cultural legacy. The Nhat Binh robe, in particular, has been revived in contemporary life, gracing festivals, cultural events, and artistic endeavors, and captivating the younger generation. This article delves into the decorative patterns adorning the Nhat Binh robe of Empress Dowager Doan Huy from the Nguyen Dynasty (1802-1945), analyzing three key aspects: the classification of patterns, the underlying principles of decoration, and the symbolic significance of the decorative system.
