Abstract

: In performing hat boi, the use of singing melodies depends on the style of hat boi in each region. The author of the hat boi script often notes the names of each type of melody and song in the script for the actors to use when performing. With the ability to understand the content and details of the play, hat boi actor/actress selects each type of melody and song to suit the situation, nature, and mood of the character. When using singing melodies, the continuity from one singing tune to another in performing hat boi Binh Dinh (HBBĐ) contributes to expressing the unique characteristics of the singing style. This article presents the continuing popularity of the two main singing melodies in HBBĐ: Noi Loi and Hat Nam. This is a combination of two singing melodies with the same properties, modal scale, and represents the exchange signal in performance between actors and musicians of HBBD.
