Abstract

Nguyet Vien village, Hoang Quang ward, Thanh Hoa city, was formerly part of Hoang Hoa district, a region with a long-standing tradition of scholarship and cultural heritage. The district boasted numerous Confucian scholars who had passed imperial examinations, with Nguyet Vien prominent among them as one of Thanh Hoa’s most renowned locales. Throughout the Le, Mac, and Nguyen dynasties, until the final imperial examination in 1919, Nguyet Vien’s tradition of academic excellence remained unbroken, distinguishing it from other villages. They contributed to establishing the government and served as upright officials respected by the people. The article examines the enduring traditional values of Nguyet Vien Scholarly Village, which continue to be relevant and practiced in contemporary life.
