Abstract
The history of stage drama in Ho Chi Minh City has always developed strongly and contributed significantly to the prosperity of Vietnamese stage drama. One of the crucial factors that determines the quality and development of stage drama in Ho Chi Minh City is the role of artistic direction. Stage directing work in Ho Chi Minh City has existed for more than half a century, associated with the names of many generations of artists, creating many high-quality plays, especially in the period 2000-2020. This article applies the regional cultural theory and theatrical theory to research on the practice of directing in the current socio-cultural context of the theater.
