Abstract

The Thượng kinh ký sự is a major historical record work of medieval Vietnamese literature. Born in a time of great historical upheaval, this work is not only unique in its artistic form but also touches on the most sensitive aspects of the era’s ideology. Through the issues of the medieval chronicle genre and discourse theory, the article explores the factors that create personal discourses and the breakdown of value systems in the Thượng kinh ký sự.
