Abstract

The cultural heritage of Luang Prabang (Laos) was recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1995. Since then, the Lao government has implemented various activities aimed at managing the Luang Prabang heritage in line with sustainable development. One of the most notable efforts has been the development of international cooperation for the preservation of this unique urban heritage. Programs and projects in collaboration with countries such as France, Japan, South Korea, China, Germany, the United States, and others have been carried out across various aspects, including the preservation of urban architecture, environmental landscapes, historic houses, traditional villages, and community education. The results of this cooperation over the years have contributed to the sustainable preservation of the Luang Prabang World Heritage site.
