Abstract
Proverbs are an important component of literature and folklore, reflecting the worldview, philosophy of life, and moral values of each ethnic group. Both Dao and Vietnamese proverbs embody a rich treasury of knowledge passed down through generations, playing a significant role in transmitting experiences and wisdom related to weather, agricultural production, and daily life to younger generations. Although each ethnic group possesses its own distinct cultural characteristics, the proverbs of the Dao and the Vietnamese reveal remarkable similarities in terms of content, form, and philosophy of life. This article provides an initial exploration of these similarities, thereby highlighting the shared cultural features of the two groups.
