Abstract

Tao masters perform important worship rituals in the spiritual life of the Tay ethnic group in Cho Đon district, Bac Kan province. They act as intermediaries between humans and deities or ancestors, praying for peace, health, and abundant harvests. During rituals, Tao masters use distinctive ritual objects, including prayer books, the thanh tao tree, thanh la cymbals, drums, worship paintings, talismans, and traditional costumes. Each item carries a unique meaning, enhancing the sacredness and effectiveness of the ceremonies. These ritual tools aid the Tao masters in performing ceremonies and reflect the deep-rooted traditional beliefs. These rituals contribute to preserving the cultural identity of the Tay ethnic group.
Research on Tao masters and their ritual instruments helps to better understand the spiritual life of the community. Moreover, it serves as an important foundation for preserving and promoting national cultural heritage in the modern context.
