Abstract

On November 21, 2019, the 14th National Assembly passed Law No. 6/2019/QH14 on Libraries, which came into effect on July 1, 2020. The enactment of this law has facilitated the contribution of libraries to the advancement of Vietnamese culture and the well-being of its citizens, while also promoting the growth of libraries and reading culture in particular. It underscores the significant role of libraries in the national development process. After five years of implementation, the cultural sector, and the library sector in particular, have achieved initial successes. However, sustained efforts are required to ensure the law’s full effectiveness in society.
