Phong tục tang ma của người Mông ở miền núi Thanh Hóa: Nghi lễ truyền thống và sự biến đổi trong đời sống đương đại
Abstract
This article analyzes the relationship between tradition and transformation in the funeral rituals of the Mong people in the mountainous areas of Thanh Hoa province. Traditional funeral practices are still preserved, reflecting beliefs regarding the human soul, filial piety, and community cohesion. However, under the impact of contemporary life, these rituals have undergone significant adjustments: ceremonies’ shortened durations, simplified procedures as well as the tendency to a more economical and practical way of organizing, along with positive changes in how their younger generations perceive them. These transformations demonstrate the internal vitality and flexible adaptability of Mong culture in the flow of social progress, while affirming the sustainability of traditional values when inherited and adjusted in accordance with modern contexts.
