Nghệ thuật trang trí chùa Bà Thiên Hậu
Abstract
Ba Thien Hau Pagoda - a long-standing ancient pagoda in Ho Chi Minh City, built in the 18th century. The pagoda is a typical representative of Hoa Pagoda architecture in the South, outstanding with its rich decorative art. The traditional system of motifs and layout art at the pagoda clearly demonstrates the Chinese community’s beliefs and wishes for happiness and prosperity. At the same time, the appearance of fruit and natural motifs from the Southern region shows that cultural interference factors have contributed to affirming the value of the pagoda in Vietnam’s artistic heritage. The research article confirms a very unique decorative art style of Ba Thien Hau Pagoda, which not only shows simple sculptures and paintings but is a lively art complex, demonstrating cultural interference, meticulousness in every detail with profound meaning in indigenous cultural beliefs, contributing to affirming the sustainable value of the pagoda in the heart of Ho Chi Minh City.
