Abstract

The festival dedicated to An Duong Vuong is a unique form of historical and spiritual celebration in Vietnamese culture, associated with history and the legendary founding of the Au Lac kingdom. From its central site at Co Loa (Ha Noi) to various localities such as Cao Bang, Hai Phong, Hung Yen, Ninh Binh, Thanh Hoa and Nghe An, the festival reveals distinct regional variations that reflect both mythical-historical beliefs and a strong sense of national identity. This article approaches the festival from a cultural studies perspective, identifying its specific characteristics, symbolic values, and its role in preserving the cultural memory of the nation.
