Abstract

This article explores the multi-faceted impacts of national education policies on Tay ethnic minority students in Binh Gia commune, Lang Son province, during the 2020-2025 period. Drawing upon anthropological theories of education and cultural capital, along with analyses from Johnathan London, Truong Huyen Chi, and Do Thi Ngoc Quyen, the study indicates that policies such as tuition fee exemptions and reductions, preferential admissions, and the implementation of the 2018 General Education Program have significantly contributed to improving educational access and the general intellectual level of the Tay community. However, the article also clarifies existing challenges, particularly language barriers, uneven educational quality, school dropout rates, and the risk of cultural erosion due to the limited integration of traditional culture into the curriculum. Through illustrations from statements by Tay teachers and students, the study proposes comprehensive solutions aimed at building an education system that not only equips knowledge but also fosters and promotes the Tay ethnic minority’s cultural identity sustainably.
