Vai trò của hòa âm nhạc Jazz trong việc định hình nghệ sĩ biểu diễn đàn phím điện tử chuyên nghiệp
Abstract
The contemporary Vietnamese music scene is witnessing the development of complex harmonic languages, highlighted by the academic trend of Jazz and a mainstream current influenced by Pop, R&B, and Hiphop. This places increasing demands on electronic keyboard artists, requiring them to fulfill the versatile roles of harmonizer, improviser, and creative accompanist. In such an environment, mastering the fundamentals of Jazz harmony emerges as a core competency. It not only enables artists to meet the rigorous demands of the art form but also provides a solid theoretical foundation for them to comprehend and effectively interact with other contemporary musical trends. This paper analyze the role of Jazz harmony in enhancing improvisation skills, reharmonizing compositions - particularly Vietnamese songs - and shaping an artist’s personal style. Through this analysis, the paper asserts that a focus on systematic training in Jazz harmony, oriented towards developing practical and creative competencies, is an urgent necessity for elevating the quality of training for electronic keyboard performers in Vietnam today.
