Abstract
The article analysis and synthesis some achievements in the study of Vietnamese traditional music since 1975, through representative research works on traditional music before and after the country’s Đổi Mới (Renovation) policy in 1986; the Vietnamese traditional musical heritages inscribed by UNESCO; and raises issues, challenges facing the study of traditional music in the current context.
