Abstract

Characteristics of refractory castable are often associated with the process of annealing at high temperatures and sudden temperature changes. When the material is subjected to cyclic temperature changes, the properties of the material are increasingly degraded. reduces due to creating stress inside the material, easily causing damage and destruction of the material. This article studies the improvement of thermal shock durability of refractory castable by partially replacing sintered bauxite aggregate with silicon carbide (SiC). The results show that when adding SiC, refractory castable has a lower thermal expansion coefficient and significantly increased thermal shock durability. However, the added SiC content affects the bulk density and physical and mechanical properties of the product. Under testing conditions, a maximum SiC content of 15% should only be used to ensure the product's technical requirements.
