Identifying the barriers to the implementing of BIM-nD in construction project management

Abstract

In the context of the rapidly developing construction industry, the adoption of multi-dimensional Building Information Modeling (BIM-nD) has become an inevitable trend, helping to improve project execution efficiency and lifecycle management while reducing costs and risks. However, the implementation of BIM-nD in Vietnam still faces numerous barriers. This paper identifies the key challenges in applying BIM-nD in project management in Vietnam. Based on a synthesis of global research findings, analysis of survey data, and direct interviews with experienced experts in project management using BIM, the data analysis results identified 12 critical barriers that directly impact the application of BIM-nD in project management.
