Determination of solar heat gain coefficient of high-performance construction glass and evaluation of the sustainability in glass usage in Vietnam

Abstract

The solar heat gain coefficient (SHGC) is an important technical specification of glass, regarding energy saving. After the QCVN 09:2017/BXD was in place, SHGC of the glass caught the attention and became a factor to consider in the selection of glass for construction. The researcher has performed the determination of SHGC of high-performance construction glass with energy-saving function, directly sampled at the processing companies. From the determined SHGC, the researcher proceeds to evaluate the sustainability of glass usage in Vietnam, as well as make recommendations toward general sustainability in socio-economic development.
