Considering the influence of the flexibility of frame nodes and the P-delta effect on the behavior of the structure

Abstract

The flexibility of the frame nodes affect relatively large the behavior of the frame, the overall stiffness of the entire structure, as well as the redistribution of internal forces in the converging components at the node, the deformation of the structural elements around the node. The author of the article conduct the considerations of the operation of the frame, taking into account the influence of the flexibility of the frame nodes,   according to the  consequences, specifically: changes in the oscillation period of the frame, changes in the displacement of the top of the frame, and redistribution of internal forces of the elements in the frame. In addition, the author also consider the influence of the P-delta effect on the operation of the frame with many cases of stiffness of the frame node. From there, it shows the necessity of considering the flexibility of the frame node and the P-delta effect in the design of frame structures.
