Abstract

This paper presents research results on the use of aluminum slag (  salt cake) as a partial replacement for traditional raw materials (aluminum hydroxide or alumina) in the production of AC50 alumina cement. The aluminum slag content in the mix ranged from 14% to 38%. The results show that as the aluminum slag content increases, the firing temperature must be raised to ensure proper sintering of the product. The optimal firing temperature for producing AC50 alumina cement with aluminum slag was determined to be 1350 °C. The optimal aluminum slag proportion in the mix was 24.3%, yielding AC50–13 alumina cement with a compressive strength of 53.63 MPa at 1 day (R1) and 74.72 MPa at 3 days (R3), the highest values among the samples containing aluminum slag.
