The cement concrete using graphene-based nanomaterials: study in some mechanical properties and durability
Abstract
Modern concrete infrastructure requires structural elements to be more reliable and durable over time. The introduction of nanoparticles is believed to significantly improve the properties of cement-based materials. Due to its exceptional mechanical capabilities, graphene has been employed as a nanomaterial to reinforce cement-based structures. However, the properties of concrete depend on each different type of Graphene. This paper presents research on the effects of the combination of Graphene (GP) and Graphene oxide (GO) on mechanical properties and durability of concrete. The results show that GO-GP helps improve the compressive strength, flexural tensile strength and water penetration of concrete through filling nano pores and creating quality hydration products.
