Effect of TOTO ceramic powder on the properties of high-strength fine-grained concrete using crushed sand from limestone

Abstract

In recent years, the research and use of artificial sands to replace natural sand in concrete and mortar components is one of the effective solutions not only in terms of economy but also in terms of ecological environment. In addition, industrial plants, especially ceramic factories, emit a large amount of solid waste, which has caused many negative impacts on the environment. The purpose of this paper is to evaluate the possibility of making fine-grained high-strength concrete using crushed sand from limestone combined with TOTO ceramic powder. Materials used in the study include But Sơn Portland Cement PC40; artificial sand is crushed sand from the limestone of Kien Khe quarry (Ha Nam); finely ground TOTO ceramic powder and necessary additives. The studied concrete mixture has good workability, the average compressive strength of the sample at the age of 28 days is over 70 MPa.
