Study on energy simulation models: classification, technical applications, research and development trend
Abstract
The rapid urbanization rate in Vietnam has increased the pressures related to energy demand used in the construction sector. Energy consumption in buildings and industries accounts for a significant portion of the total national energy consumption. However, many construction projects in Vietnam have not yet paid attention to the integration of effective energy utilization for the design, construction, and operation processes of buildings. Applying energy simulation models in the design, construction, and operation processes of buildings can contribute to reducing total energy consumption and minimizing greenhouse gas emissions in the construction sector. Research and practical application of building energy simulations in the design and operation stages in Vietnam have not been widely applied. Therefore, this article has reviewed research around the world to provide complete and detailed information about concepts, classification, technical applications, development trends of models, and building energy simulation software in the construction sector. This study is a reference for future research in Vietnam on the application of building energy simulation in the design and operation stages of buildings to ensure energy savings and carbon emission reduction while still maintaining environmental comfort.
