Investigation of using waste gypsum of ceramic industry as additive for pordland cement production
Keywords:
Waste gypsum, Additive, Portland cement
Abstract
The present work aims to evaluate the effect ofcontent (from 3 to 8%) of waste gypsum (WG) from ceramic industry on some properties of Portland cement. Cement properties examined were standard water demand, initial and final setting time, compressive strength at ages of 1, 3, 7, 28 days, and hydration heat of cement pastes during the first 24 h. The experimental results show that WG can be used as an additive for Portland cement production, meeting technical requirements according to TCVN 2682:2009. It was found that the optimum WG content for cement, in terms of compressive strength, was 5%.
