Calculating fire resistance of reinforced concrete columns according to the standard according to EN 1992-1-2

Abstract

This study presents general design principles and simple calculation methods for reinforced concrete column structures according to European standard EN 1992-1-2 on design of reinforced concrete columns under fire conditions. The calculation process follows the simple method and is illustrated through calculation examples. The results show that when the thickness of the protective concrete layer and the reinforcement content increases, the fire resistance of the column increases, but when the fire time increases, the fire resistance of the column also decreases.
