Abstract
This study presents the result of research and assessment of the environmental impact of flooring products from recycled plastic waste through testing the emission ability of formaldehyde and leaching heavy metals into the environment around the use area. The results show that the level of formaldehyde emissions and heavy metal contaminants leaching out from flooring products made from recycled plastic waste are lower than the thresholds specified in the standard named JIS A5741:2016 - Wood-Plastic Recycled Composites. This research confirms that recycled plastic flooring tiles can be used as one of the common building materials without effect on human health and environmental risk in the area of use.
