Adaptation of the academic expectation stress inventory among Vietnamese students
Abstract
Academic expectation stress significantly affects the mental health of Vietnamese students. To support the prevention and intervention of this issue, it is necessary to have an instrument that ensures psychometric properties, compatible with the Vietnamese socio-cultural context. The current study adapted the Academic Expectation Stress Inventory (AESI) developed by Ang and Huan (2006) for the use with 909 students. The results showed that the AESI-VN-1 initially ensured reliability and validity. Confirmatory factor analysis showed that the scale achieved its best model fit with a two-factor structure. This finding aligns with international research results and is consistent with the perspective of Ang & Huan (2006). Some limitations and suggestions for further research are also discussed in the article.
