Developing a numerical model to analyze solutions for soft ground improvement using prefabricated vertical drains

Abstract

When constructing roads over areas with soft ground, the prefabricated vertical drains solution is always prioritized for consideration to accelerate the consolidation process. In this paper, the author presents the development of a numerical model to analyze the problem of constructing embankments on soft soil reinforced with prefabricated vertical drains. This model has been validated through observations of surface settlement, deep settlement, surface horizontal displacement, deep horizontal displacement, and pore water pressure from actual projects, demonstrating its reliability. The research results can serve as a reference for projects with similar characteristics.
