Urban design for health
Abstract
“Health is careated by people and lives in their everyday environment: where they play, study, work and love.” Ottawa Charter on Health Promotion, 1986. More and more people are living in cities, which is an irrerversible trend. Therefore, urban residential areas are becoming increasingly crucial for human health.
Urban design for public health is a method of designing and organizing urban spaces to optimiza the health and development of the community in a healthy way. This includes creating green, safe and pedestrian friendly habitats, encouraging physical activity and reducing environmental polution. Factors such as urban structure, construction density, public transportation system and green park all affect the health of residents in the city. Urban design for health not only creates a better living environment, but laso helps to improve the quality of life of the community.
