Management of housing development for workers in Cat Lai 2 industrial zone, Thu Duc, Ho Chi Minh City
Abstract
Cat Lai 2, an industrial park, plays a vital role in the economic development strategy of Ho Chi Minh City. However, it is currently faced by numerous challenges related to the management of housing development and urban services for workers in this area. These have not only impacts on the quality of living environment for workers in this area but also the sustainable development of the city. By using the methods of fieldtrip in coordination with case studies, this study investigates the current situation of housing in the area, thereby proposing some management policies, which are expected to be appropriate the characteristics of this area in referrence to the lessons learned from some cities in the world. Given the important of this industrial park, improving living conditions for workers is not only a social responsibility but also a key factor in maintaining and enhancing labor productivity. A better living environment will help retain workers, reduce turnover costs, and support long-term economic growth.
