Integrating finite element method with multi-objective metaheuristic optimization algorithms for solving space truss structures
Abstract
Structural optimization has always been a topic of interest in the design process of construction engineers. This study outlines the steps to implement the process by applying the finite element method combined with currently popular optimization algorithms. The effectiveness of the NSGA-II, M OPSO, M OEA/D, a nd M OJS algorithms will be examined using representative structural examples. The results indicate that the MOJS algorithm provides more stable and faster computational performance than the other algorithms. The findings of this study offer engineers additional options and considerations when selecting optimization algorithms for structural design
