Factors influencing risky electric bicycle riding behavior among high-school students in Vietnam: A regression analysis by behavior groups
Abstract
This study was conducted to explore the factors influencing different groups of risky e-bike riding behaviors based on data collected from a questionnaire survey involving 594 high-school students in Vietnam. Through the developed regression models, this study identified several factors that significantly impact each group of risky e-bike riding behaviors among the surveyed participants. The research findings indicate that demographic factors (including gender, daily riding duration and riding experience) and other factors including attitude towards traffic safety, perception of the danger of behaviors and descriptive norms also have a significant influence on different groups of risky riding behaviors. Additionally, the study highlights that perceived family’s commitment to traffic safety positively contribute to reducing risky riding behaviors among students. In contrast, misconceptions about perceived privilege of e-bike riders who are high-school students tend to increase the likelihood of engaging in risky riding behaviors. The study’s findings can be utilized to propose educational measures aimed at enhancing traffic safety for high-school students using e-bikes in Vietnam.
