Study on evaluating the fire resistance of simple reinforced concrete slabs based on the ACI 216.1M-14

Abstract

Fire prevention and firefighting are extremely important in construction projects to minimize damage caused by fire. The objective of this study is to evaluate the fire resistance of simple reinforced concrete slabs based on ACI 216.1M-14. The research results show that determining fire resistance through analytical methods, although more complex than the tabular approach, provides more suitable results for structural load-bearing requirements. On the other hand, the tabular method, while simpler, tends to yield overly conservative results.
