Research on the application of weak soil reinforced steel slag for embankments in delta Mekong
Abstract
ABSTRACT
In the Delta Mekong, the construction of embankments often uses weak soil directly dredged from the canals. However, this soil is saturated and very weak, so, the embankments are easy damaged when used. Besides, the annual maintenance costs are quite large. From this situation, this paper focuses on the utilization of mixture weak soil –steel slag to construct the embankments. The weak soil will be mixed with steel slag in different mixing ratios to create a new mixture of materials with physical – mechanical properties to ensure stability for the embankments. The physical – mechanical properties of mixture weak soil – steel slag at different mixing ratios will be the input data for the numerical models of the embankments. The simulating results will be analyzed based on the stability of the embankments in order to find out the optimum mixing ratio. The simulation also shows the ability to use of mixture weak soil - steel slag to construct the embankments.
