Identify factors affecting quality of estimation works
Abstract
ABSTRACT
Estimation plays a crucial role during the phases of construction projects from the initial, design development, construction, and handing over projects. However, it is difficult to reach a high accuracy of estimation due to number of factors. The study aims at identiying factors that affect the accuracy of
estimation procedure in construction projects in Ho Chi Minh City. The research was conducted based on the evaluations of clients, consultants, and contractors. Data were collected from 62 valid feedback. The analysis confirms six important variables affect the accuracy of estimation, including: 1) Available details of designs and specifications, 2) Experience of quantity surveyors, 3) Construction methodology and technology, 4) Allowable time for estimation preparation, 5) Project complexity, and 6) Available price data of the past and on-going projects. The variables and others are grouped into four factors. The results provide the project stakeholders with the ability to improve the estimation precision of construction projects.
