Urban drainage planning and inundation prevention in response to climate change
Abstract
ABSTRACT:
Vietnam is a country with a fast urbanization rate and is also vulnerable to the adverse impacts of climate change. Urban sprawl or uncontrolled urbanization, asynchronous urban development and infrastructure development are the direct or indirect causes of urban inundation. In recent years, relevant sectors, especially local authorities have always been concerned about the problem of urban inundation. Drainage and inundation prevention planning in response to climate change plays a very important role. It is both a tool and a basis for the orientation, management and investment in building drainage systems in the area. To meet the requirements of innovation and adaptation to climate change, the planning for urban drainage and inundation prevention needs further study to be completed. The article mainly focuses on this issue and proposes mid to long-term solutions to advance the urban drainage and inundation prevention planning.
