High-rise building regulations in urban areas for mitigating traffic congestion
Abstract
ABSTRACT:
Traffic congestion is the big problem in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh city. One of the reasons for that situation is the lack of land-use regulations for mitigate of traffic congestion. This paper focuses on understanding the relationship between high-rise building regulations through FAR (Floor Aarea Ratio) and traffic congestion. Based on the experiences in land-use regulations from several big cities in the world and review of high-rise building regulations in Vietnam, the article has some suggestions to improve the high-rise building regulations. The proposals focus on considering and adjusting the FAR according to urban transport situation.
