Abstract

ABSTRACT

High-strength concrete has compressive strength between 60 and 80 MPa higher than normal concrete. This study presents some results that show us steel slag can use as coarse aggregate in high-strength concrete (BTCDCXT). The physical and mechanical properties of BTCDCXT investigated in the study include compressive strength at different ages (from 3-365 days), elastic modulus and Poisson coefficient, and abrasion of concrete. The results show that when increasing the silica fume content from 6- 12%, the compressive strength increases, when the silica fume
content is greater than 12%, the compressive strength decreases. BTCDCXT also has significantly improved elasticity and wear modulus.

Keywords: High strength concrete, steel slag, abrasion resistance, compressive strength, modulus of elasticity, Poisson's ratio.
