Abstract

Industrial sites are required to implement an Environmental emergency prevention and response plan. Construction of wastewater emergency response facilities is an important measure for wastewater emergency control. The study team proposes 06 schemes with different wastewater emergency response facilities: (1) 2-chamber equalization tank; (2) Waste stabilization pond or large volume facilities; (3) Emergency pond; (4) On-site emergency tanks at clusters, and automation response measures; (5) Enhancing treatment processes or facilities; (6) Shared emergency pond. The study team also proposes technological requirements to be met at design of emergency response facilities. Except facilities in scheme (4), the minimum tank volume recommended is 1 day retention time at design flow. Besides, building engineering requirements are also recommended for emergency pond, emergency tank from reinforced concrete, emergency tank from prefabricated concrete and from other materials, emergency pump station.

Key words: Emergency pond; emergency tank; environmental emergency; prevention and rescue; wastewater.
