Proposal of urban drainage system management criteria toward sustainable development for Mekong Delta provincipal cities

Abstract

Provincial capitals of Mekong Delta are the driving force of the region's development, but in urbanization, they are still inadequate in drainage management, at risk of inundation and are challenged by climate change and sea level rise. To improve the efficiency of drainage of these cities, a set of criteria for drainage management towards sustainable development is essential. In the article, the criteria are researched and proposed based on analysis of inadequacies in drainage management and fundamental solutions. The criteria are quantified so that they can be applied specifically to each city. The proposed criteria is an important data for improving drainage efficiency towards sustainable development for urbans in the Mekong Delta.
