Survey and preliminary assessment of emissions for some construction machinery in civil construction projects

Abstract

The flourishing development of construction projects and highrise buildings in Vietnam has caused a significant impact on the environment, especially the air environment. Construction machineries release a great amount of greenhouse gas emissions (CO2, CH4, H2O,...), and others air pollutants (NOx, CO, Dust (PM), PAHs...); however, there are the lack of deep works to study about those machines. So, this study investigates the current status of the use of construction machinery and the preliminary emission of pollutants from construction machinery at nine projects in three provinces (Hanoi, Hung Yen, and Quang Ninh). The results show that some construction machines have a large concentration of CO and NOx, HC pollutants in the environment because they are too old, outdated, and regularly unmaintained.
