Solutions to improve the management capacity of surface water drainage infrastructure in Rach Gia city, Kien Giang province in the direction of green urban
Abstract
Over the years, the socio-economic growth of Rach Gia city has promoted the process of urbanization at a rapid pace, while the infrastructure has not met the development requirements of the city, causing environmental pollution. During the rainy season or during high tide, flooding occurs in many parts of the city, affecting social security. In this study, assessing the status and causes of inundation and analyzing the factors of surface water drainage management that have not met the criteria of green cities, based on the scientific basis to propose solutions for solutions to improve the management capacity of surface water drainage infrastructure in the direction of green cities. The proposals focus on supplementing policies in urban planning management, changing perceptions, mobilizing community participation combined with the political economy of finance and technical solutions to create motivations for effective implementation of surface water drainage management policies.
