People element infused in ho chi minh city cultural architecture
Abstract
Architecture for People (AfP), with people-oriented construction objectives, spatial and architectural characteristics and humorous meanings is currently receiving much attention in architecture design training and professional practices, especially in new development and renovation of cultural building projects that serve the communities’ social cultural activities. This research develops a framework and applies it to the analysis and assessment of AfP elements in existing cultural buildings in the 930ha city center of Saigon Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC). The research discusses the positive improvement of the AfP elements and impacts of both existing and new development of cultural building on local social, cultural and environmental contexts of Ho Chi Minh city.
