Improve the lifting capacity of crawler cranes by improving stability

Abstract

The lifting capacity of a crawler crane is limited by the stability and strength of the structure. This paper analyzes the evaluation of the stability coefficient of a crawler crane when its lifting capacity is increased by proposing the use of a new structural frame to expand the counterweight of the crane. During the assessment of lifting capacity, important factors such as the stability and durability of the crane structure are carefully considered. Increasing the lifting capacity of a crane only makes sense if it does not significantly affect the stability or durability of the structure. With such a proposal, it is shown that the lifting capacity of the crane is limited mainly due to increased stability. Static analysis of the new structural frame is determined through structural mechanics methods.
