ABSTRACT

Through an overview of the relationship between urban landscape infrastructure and the landscape of Modern Movement in Hanoi, the article clearly depicts the influence of landscape and historical values of Modern Movement in the Hanoi’s urban fabric and its correlation with the city of Havana (Cuba) in the 1970s and 1990s, when Modern Movement gradually shifted to Organic Architecture, with cohesion in harmony with the landscape, nature and urban living environment. From that context, the author chooses a typical work in the group of architectural groups mentioned above, which in this case is Thang Loi Hotel, designed by Cuban architect Nicolas Quintana. In addition, the article will build a system of historical-architecture-landscape values of the building with two methods of assessing architectural heritage, the first method (PP1), based on the Office of Chief Architect of Havana (OHCH) and second method (PP2) according to the spreadsheet of valid architectural work evaluation scores issued together with Decree No.85/2020/ND-CP dated May 17.July 2020 of the Vietnamese Government, thereby evaluating and analyzing in the most objective way the values of the selected works, especially works related with foreign elements in Hanoi.
